1880s Sowerby Vitro-Porcelain Posey Basket

This purple vitro-porcelain basket has an intricate design to resemble a wicker pattern. It was
produced by John G. Sowerby from the late 1870's. The basket produced from
marbleized vitro-porcelain of white, aubergine and blue, was intended as a
posy-holder, spill holder, or storage for pins or other small items. The inside of the basket
has the makers mark, a Peacock head crest, used by Sowerby from 1875 to 1930. The
basket is in excellant condition. Measures 4"L X 3-1/4"H
